A racoon (as any but a landlubber will know) is a short spike on a T-shaped handle, generally used for securing a stuns’l to a jackstaff, but frequently pressed into other uses.
Well forgive me for not knowing all the nautical lingo you used in your poem here…most of us are landlubbers these days anyhow. I won’t even ask what those other things are you mentioned
