Onomatopoetic little ditty, I likes it, I do. An’ you worked in that alliteration I’m so fond of. Pinks wouldn’t cooperate with ya, but it’s an idea.
Alliteration and assonance are the last resorts of a free verse writer, believe me!
Hey – watch out who you call an ass and a nance!
sometimes can’t be helped. claws are clickity.
When they run out of castanets they employ terriers.
“light a house for a year” probably has so many meanings for so many people as it should. I immediately feel warmed by the behavior of this dog in your poem and also consider it exercising in place as a hampster on a wheel–as could be trapped and converted into usable electricity. Beam us up something, Montgomery Scott.
If I could only get the dog to do it to music.
…you might be invited on to the david letterman show.
love the clickety-click…pondering about the house lighting..
Wander with a wand,
Ponder upon a pond
Reminds me of a line I wrote once:
“Clip-on nails pick rails off his grails”.
I hereby liberate that line. 🙂
