oh how sad… a cold winter in more than one way… love how you describe her…
The last time I saw her she looked awful, wrapped up in a blanket and sitting on a camp stool (she usually stood), her face white. She said she wasn’t feeling too well, but had to work in order to get some money. She didn’t know she was suffering from pneumonia. I still miss her.
Absolutely beautiful. ‘They told me she croaked*’ tells us something profound about ourselves, our society, our expectations … and our barriers.
Thank you. This is the first thing I have written in a long while that is actually rooted in something, not simply me being ‘clever’ with a handful of words.
