The spitting sea! It sounds like the North Sea?
That’s the one!
I’m glad you survived and what a fantastic moment this encounter.
There have been times when I haven’t cared whether I lived or died. This wasn’t one of them.
Glad to hear of your courage and those moments when you didn’t care….passing over. I don’t mind the possibility of earth disappearing. I don’t want it to, but the universe would probably be ok, but when it comes to individuals, I do mind if they disappear especially the ones who seem to do more good for everyone than not good.
what a wonderful metaphor for fear… the things that comfort us play against each other and show their rough face.. excellent
Thanks. A girl gotta deal with the real!
Absolutely beautiful. I felt myself standing there beside you.
Thank you. I could have used the encouragement, that I do remember, but the whole thing about this poem (I think) is the alone-ness.
This is marvelous. I’d like to use it when I’m teaching poetry next year for its use of highly specific imagery in successful conjunction with an abstract title. 🙂
I would be honoured. Let me know how that goes.
Thanks. 🙂 It will be in the fall some time.
