Love this. Reminds me of Guillaume Apollinaire (if memory serves me right) and some of his visual poems. Also reminds me of Catch-22 where they are censoring letters in the hospital and one come out something like, “Dear Marie. I yearn for you tragically.”
For some time I have been making all my poems ‘visual’. I’m not entirely happy with having photos, artwork, and so on (but I have been using some lately), or even, I must confess, doing these ‘redacted’ poems. However, you never know until you try something. Anyhow, by making my poems ‘visual’ I mean that I produce jpeg images of the words, using Courier font, the most basic and least expressive typeface. By doing this, and by keeping my poems short, I hope to use stark text as an expressive medium. I hope this doesn’t sound too pretentious! 😀
Another visual/text experiment I tried was ‘lithipoesis’. I ran the experiment in 2010, and you can see it here:
And by the way – in Catch 22 it was actually ‘Dear Mary’, but thanks. 🙂
