Marvelous. And I mean that in the literal sense, causing wonder and astonishment. Reminds me of some writings by nature writer Barry Lopez, essay/stories, impressionistic, from an early short collection called Desert Notes, exploring the boundaries of self and consciousness, where the self and environment meet and blur. It is a singular experience to watch a lizard in its environment, doing push-ups territorially in the blinding sun, the large males inflating their neck sacs, the little ones skittering under the mesquite, and to feel like you are confronted with a distant kind of intelligence, a little more alien to us than a dog or parrot.
I was she. I am she. Your writing is very powerful. This is the kind of poem one can read and read again and it will always startle with the realities captured. Love it. Going to read again right now.

And that’s just the upper layer of it!
Thanks Ray.
Very beautiful and very strong.
Very best regards

Thank you. 🙂
Amazing! Great imagery, great narrative. Leaves me in a sense of wonder.
Here’s a song it reminds me of: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGw7KtRxfgU
Thank you, Millie. Sometimes I hit the groove.
That’s a great song, there’s almost a Leonard Cohen vibe going on there.
They’ve got some great tracks. I found them through True Detective. That song was the opening track. 🙂
she, she, she = yes, yes, yes? Masterful.
It was a grace note or two that seemed appropriate.

Do, Janni, do. See what layers you can find in it.
That’s exactly it, your work is so layered, one must read and read again. Once is never enough with your writing.
Oh my, yes.
I like that you get it; that so many are getting this one makes it worthwhile.
