You know the drill by now. ©Marie Marshall
Grief this is good. I’m liking this more direct work. It communicates something very human, something solid that we should have thought & should think but didn’t & don’t. One criticism is having done this there’s less opportunity for me to have wrote it. Ha.
I’m glad you like it. Well, I guess it’s nothing new, and maybe I’m pushing at an open door, or standing on the shoulders of the likes of Susan Howe and Lisa Jarnot, but this is the kind of stuff I’m putting out at the moment. I love the freedom to explore – or reexplore – this territory. The directness comes from abandoning the (overtly) lyrical, the self-revelatory, the baring of the soul, and concentrating instead on what I have in common with each reader – the language – and involving them in the active process of creation, the supplying of meaning.
It’s absolutely working for me. It may not be a new style but the revelatory content certainly is. Hope you keep in this mode for some time.
