Two dark nights

for two dark nights
and one blood red morning
I skinned to you
:
– your wounds were mine
your words came from my mouth
in a bitter tumble
:
and what a blasphemy
we made and left such
a long ache of loving

One of the reasons I hardly ever post poems here any more, is that WordPress’s new “Gutenberg” editing process is COMPLETELY USER-UNFRIENDLY, and what is more, the option to choose “classic” editing DOES NOT WORK. This current poem is spaced by colons (“:”) which I have coloured white using Gutenberg; as my readers can see, that has had NO EFFECT. WordPress take note, you are NOT the friend of your users!
Faithful friends and readers, if there is another blogging platform that you are willing to follow me to, then please let me know, and I’ll start to use it.
I can usually avoid the double line spacing by using “code editor” which is hidden in the 3 vertical dots in the top right corner and pasting the poem into that interface; or by using soft line-breaks holding down the shift key while pressing “enter/return”, but I agree: rubbish user interface. Get a grip, WordPress!!!
I hope they’re listening, but they probably aren’t. You can get “classic editor” as a plug-in, but only if you upgrade! Money doesn’t talk, it swears – Bob Dylan.
If posting poetry I write it in my notes and then screenshot it, posting it as an image. Can only be a certain length, though.
That’s a simple work-round I should have considered.
Loving your poem. Nicely turned, glad to see you back. The new and improved WordPress is anything but improved. I am posting less and less. Just too exasperating. Hoping they read these comments and smarten up before more of us continue to slip away.
They probably won’t read ’em, but anyway…
I’m glad you liked the poem. 🙂
You have expressed some of the same frustrations as many of us who have been forced to use the new editor.
I don’t doubt it. I wish we could get pitchforks and torches and march on the monster’s castle.
Wonderful! I completely agree with you about how the WP interface has changed–for the worst!
It’s a guddle, a fankle, a hale loadeh keech. As we say in Scotland.
i’m too desperate to care about wordpress 2121. i need the relief of seeing what’s stuck in my mind on a screen or i guess a notebook or diary would do but then there’s none of that slimmer hope that someone might relate to what i’ve said, what i’ve written, what i’ve typed. oh wordpress, i consider it lucky when i’m able to reach your tags section. i love the two in one togetherness of this poem maria!
Desperation can sometimes fuel poetry. Hi, how’re you doin?
Trying to get up early, really early and start the days, but the blanket over my head roll over routine seems to be winning. And you?
Much the same.
not maria….marie….sorry about that……at least wordpress let’s us express apologies and start a new.
Blimey, if I worried about that! 🙂 ❤
Marie, I have only just come across this work. Thanks for your poem. Vincent
You’re very welcome, my friend.
I love your poem
And I agree about WordPress – they have been way more userfriendly when I started my blog
I love that you love my poem. 🙂
